On October 1, 1871, our forefathers, aware of their need of God’s grace and God’s spiritual guidance, assembled to hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. From that small nucleus, St. Paul (Siegel) Lutheran Congregation dates its beginning. Like they of yesteryear, so we, their children, still declare the following to be our mutual conviction and testimony:
We believe and teach:
THAT the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments are the divinely inspired, revealed and inerrant Word of God.
THAT the Bible is the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and life.
THAT the three ecumenical Creeds -- the Apostles, the Nicene, the Athanasian – plus the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church are presentations and explanations of the true teaching of God’s Word and a true summary of the Christian faith.
THAT the Church Christ said He would build is not a visible society, organization or corporation, but the sum total of those people worldwide, who are spiritually connected with God through faith in Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
THAT Jesus invited people to membership in His Church through God’s Word and His Sacraments.
THAT to maintain membership in Christ’s Church, we must believe the Gospel -- the promises in God’s Word.
THAT the duty of every Christian is to give witness as to what Jesus means to his/her life to their neighbor.
THAT God has ordained civic government to control the natural, rebellious nature of mankind.
THAT the holy Christian Church – the Community of Saints – will exist and endure on earth until Christ’s return for judgment.
